The North Loop Theater District adds to the booming theater
scene with the Ford Center for the Performing Arts, The Palace
Theater and the new Goodman Theater. Other
existing Loop theaters like the Auditorium Theatre, Shubert
Theatre and Chicago Theatre mean there is always something new
and exciting on stage in the city. The many neighborhood
theaters showcase more than 200 theater groups in Chicago.

Blue Man Group is one of the most creative and entertaining
shows in Chicago. With lively music and hilarious pantomime, the
Blue Man Group never disappoints. The show starts in the lobby

original sketch comedy revue, Schadenfruede
– a German noun meaning “pleasure derived from the
misfortune of others,” has an open run at Chicago’s
Heartland Studio Theater. The frequently sold-out performances
that humorously draw on the wackiness of daily interactions
include music and comic monologues and new material is rotated
in every week.

The 58 Group

innovative company of nine multidisciplinary dancers and six

Nationally acclaimed not-for-profit theater
began in 1974 in a church basement in Highland Park, under the
leadership of Gary Sinise, Terry Kinney and Jeff Perry. The
company offers excellent theater with occasional performances by

Plimpton and Laurie Metcalf.
