Chicago is a fully-functioning sports city,
what with the Blackhawks, Bears, Bulls, and Cubs challenging
opponents at various points throughout the year. As a
result, the city is host to a few stellar sports bars, which
cater to all you athletic supporters (you know who you
are...) We'd like to take this opportunity to list a few
of the Windy City's most memorable. Please note that some
of these bars pride themselves on their sheer size, and this
might not be for everyone; if you're looking for a more quiet
experience from your sports bar, they exist as well, and we've
gone ahead and made a suggestion or two. There is one
thing that every sports fan shares, though...a love for
the game. Cheers.
The Ultimate Sports Bar
9 West Division Street
(312)654-0000
The name is a tough one to live up to; I mean, what exactly
constitutes the title of Ultimate Sports Bar? How’s about good
prices, three ten-foot screens blaring all kinds of gaming
goodness, and Chicago Honey Bears waitresses? Works for us…we
absolutely love the place. Definitely recommended for a night
out with the guys, especially if there’s a critical contest on
the tube. Come for the drinks, stay for the Honey Bears. Not to
be missed.
Bookies Sports Bar & Grill
358 West Ontario Street
(312)440-8826
Bookies is a more refined sort of establishment, more for
genteel sportsman than rabid fans. It also requires that
you be a little athletic yourself, as they offer pool, darts,
shuffleboard, and all sorts of other pub games. Boasting
over nineteen supersized tv's and a fireplace, this bar is
better suited for a middle-aged crowd. Very classy, and
very highly recommended for its unique atmosphere.
Joe's Sports Bar
940 West Weed Street
(312)337-3486
This place was called Banana Joe's in a former life, and
prides itself on being the city's largest sports bar.
Featuring over seventy, count 'em, seventy screens,
twelve satellites, live music, and a breathtaking variety of
beers, Joe's truly aims to quench even the most insatiable
appetite for sports. The atmosphere in here is almost on
the same level as being at a stadium, especially during big
games involving hometown teams. If you're into crowds and
drinking, you'll do your best to get into Joe's Sports Bar.
