Chicago Stores and Outlet Malls

Department Stores and Malls

Malls offer lots and lots of different items under one big roof, and that's why we love them so much.  Department stores do the same thing, but on a smaller scale.  It's only natural that a city the size and scope of Chicago would be adept at fulfilling its citzens' needs, and you'll be dazzled with the amount of good shopping that can be had.  Here are the department stores and malls that you definitely do not want to miss.

900 North Michigan Shops
900 North Michigan Avenue
(312)915-3916

The 900 North Michigan Shops are the preeminent upscale boutiques in all of Chicago.  Featuring all sorts of high-end stores to suit your most pricey needs, you'll definitely be able to find something you want; affording it's the hard part.  Some of the highlights include a Bloomindale's, Gucci, J.Crew, and all sorts of other very slick shops.  If you've being saving your pennies for years and years, then here's the ideal place to blow it all.  We definitely recommend a lengthy stay at the 900 North Michigan Shops...that is, if you're paying.

Woodfield Shopping Center
Golf Road at Route 53, Schaumburg
(800)332-1537

The Woodfield Shopping Center is the largest enclosed retail shopping center in the country, and also the biggest draw in all of Illinois.  The reason is simple...it's big.  Really, really, big, as in almost three hundred stores, forty restaurants, and long hours.  You'll definitely be able to find everything you needed, as well as stuff you didn't even know existed.  For sheer size and quantity, the Woodfield Shopping Center is the way to go.

Chicago Place
700 North Michigan Avenue
(312)642-4811

Touted as North Michigan Avenue's premier shopping experience, Chicago Place has over fifty stores including Saks Fifth Avenue, Ann Taylor, Williams-Sonoma, The Body Shop, and more.  There's even valet parking, for crying out loud!  For some of the biggest and best mid-to-upper-price shopping, be sure to give Chicago Place a shot.  You won't leave empty-handed.

Water Tower Place
835 North Michigan Avenue
(312)440-3166

This wing of the Atrium Mall features very nice shopping facilities and world-class dining of a more varied nature.  Featured stores include Lord & Taylor and Marshall Field's, plus more than a hundred shops and restaurants, and even a built-in movie theater.  Since it's located next to other great shopping plazas in the North Michigan Ave. area, we suggest you visit Water Tower Place during a full day of mall mayhem.  As with all of these big centers, you'll have no problem at all finding what you want, so don't worry about leaving the mall unfulfilled.
